Heather-

Heather graduated from The University of Tennessee Health Science Center with her Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy in 2003.  Over her 20-year career she has focused on clinical education to improve patient outcomes.  In 2008 she acquired her first private practice in Key West Florida, Body Owners Physical Therapy, that grew into a very successful practice for the lower Keys.  Her drive to provide individualized care continued when she opened Pinnacle Performance Physical Therapy in her home town of Harrogate Tennessee.  Throughout her career her clinical education was consistent.  Her drive is to continue providing accountable and purpose driven care to her patients.  Providing education to patients and students has also become a part of her career as an adjunct faculty member at Lincoln Memorial University Doctor of Physical Therapy program.

  • orthopedic board certification

    Orthopedic Board Certification

    One of Heather proudest accomplishments was attaining her Orthopedic Board Certification through ABPTS in 2019. These credentials are held by only 10% of her peers and demonstrates her commitment to evidence-based practice for excellent patient outcomes.

  • Manual Therapy Certification

    Heather quickly identified that her primary focus in practice was manual physical therapy, because of its profound impact on patients achieving their goals. In 2007 she completed her MTC through The University of St. Augustine under the leadership of Dr. Stanley Paris.

  • Functional Dry Needling Certification

    In 2017 Heather completed her first functional dry needling course. This skill was very excited for her after she saw the success in treating patients with orthopedic and neurological disorders. She has completed over 100 hours of hands on training in functional dry needling and completed her certification through Evidence in Motion in 2020.

  • Cert-CMFA

    In 2021 Heather began working on her certification clinical management of the fitness athlete through the Institute of Clinical Excellence. Her goals are to improve the treatment of fitness athletes. It is true, “Stronger people are harder to kill.” This philosophy is applied to patients of all ages. Functional strengthening is key to enhancing and shaping everyone’s health goals. She plans on completing this in 2022.

APTA and Private Practice Section Advocacy

She has been a member of the APTA for over 20 years.  She takes pride in letting her voice be heard to state and federal legislatures as a key contact for the private practice section for advocacy of the profession.

Fun Facts

Heather loves to spend time with her husband, Jason.   Traveling, water sports in the Keys, hiking, and sporting events with family and friends are things she loves to do!  Her past travels have taken her to other countries including Chile, Japan, Brazil, and Italy where she grew a huge appreciation for her colleagues in other countries.
